Terms of Service - Usage Guidelines & Disclaimers

Last Updated:

This free online decibel meter is provided for educational and personal use. By using this tool, you agree to these terms. Not suitable for professional certification or legal compliance measurements.

Acceptable Use

This tool is designed for general noise monitoring—checking room noise, measuring appliance sounds, teaching about acoustics, or satisfying curiosity about your environment. Use it for personal, educational, or non-commercial purposes. Don't use it to harass others or invade privacy.

Accuracy Disclaimer

Before calibration, the tool reports relative digital input in dBFS, not acoustic dB SPL. After comparison with a physical reference meter it reports a device-specific, unweighted dB SPL estimate. It is not A-weighted, traceably calibrated, or certified.

Not for Professional Certification

This tool is NOT suitable for OSHA compliance, legal documentation, workplace safety certification, building code enforcement, or any purpose requiring certified equipment. For professional applications, use a calibrated Class 1 or Class 2 sound level meter. Our readings are for reference only.

Advertising and Analytics

The site may display Google AdSense advertising and automatically uses GA4 and Umami analytics. Their processing is described in the Privacy Policy. Do not attempt to manipulate ads, clicks, impressions, consent signals, or analytics.

Changes to Terms

The service is provided as-is without warranties. We are not liable for hearing injury, workplace exposure, legal evidence, equipment damage, or decisions based on these estimates. Follow authoritative guidance and seek qualified help where needed.

Updates and Contact

We may update these terms and will publish a fixed revision date. Questions, correction requests, or legal notices can be sent to [email protected]. Microphone permission can be revoked at any time in browser settings.
