Acceptable Use

This tool is designed for general noise monitoring—checking room noise, measuring appliance sounds, teaching about acoustics, or satisfying curiosity about your environment. Use it for personal, educational, or non-commercial purposes. Don't use it to harass others or invade privacy.

Accuracy Disclaimer

Measurement accuracy depends on your device's microphone quality and calibration. Consumer devices aren't as precise as professional sound level meters. Results are estimates suitable for everyday use, not certified measurements. Don't rely on this tool for critical decisions without verification.

Not for Professional Certification

This tool is NOT suitable for OSHA compliance, legal documentation, workplace safety certification, building code enforcement, or any purpose requiring certified equipment. For professional applications, use a calibrated Class 1 or Class 2 sound level meter. Our readings are for reference only.

Limitation of Liability

We provide this tool as-is without warranties. We're not liable for hearing damage, equipment issues, or decisions made based on measurements. If you're measuring loud sounds, protect your ears regardless of what the meter shows. Use common sense and follow safety guidelines.

Microphone Permission

This tool requires microphone access to function. Your browser will ask for permission before we can access the microphone. You can revoke this permission anytime through your browser settings. We only use the microphone for real-time sound level measurement—no recording, no storage.
