Privacy Policy - Your Audio Data Stays Private & Local

Last Updated: February 28, 2026

Your privacy matters. This tool processes all audio locally in your browser—we never record, store, or transmit your sound data. Complete transparency about how we handle your information.

What We Access

When you use this decibel meter, we request access to your device's microphone. This permission lets us measure sound levels in real-time. The audio is analyzed instantly and discarded—nothing is recorded or saved. We don't collect measurement data, audio files, or any information about what you're measuring.

Advertising Partners

We use third-party vendors, including Google, which use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings. (Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.)

Analytics and Performance

We use Google Analytics and our own proprietary analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with our website. These tools collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited. This data helps us improve our website's performance and user experience. All data is anonymized and aggregated.

Local Storage Only

If you calibrate the tool, we save your calibration offset in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and helps improve measurement accuracy. You can clear it anytime through your browser settings. We don't sync this data to any servers.

No Data Sharing

We don't sell, share, or transmit your data because we don't collect it in the first place. Your measurements, calibration settings, and usage patterns remain completely private. Standard website analytics may track page visits (not measurements), but all sound processing happens locally.

Browser Security

Modern browsers protect your privacy by requiring explicit permission for microphone access. You can revoke this permission anytime through your browser settings. The Web Audio API we use is designed with privacy in mind—it processes audio without creating recordings.

Your Control

You have complete control over your data. Revoke microphone access in your browser settings to stop measurements. Clear your browser's local storage to remove calibration data. Close the page to end all audio processing. No account needed, no data to delete.
